About the Artist
Julia Swanson is a Boston based multidisciplinary artist, producer and award winning photographer who has been creating dynamic art and experiences for more than a decade.
With degrees from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, the New England School of Photography and Northeastern University Julia is known for creating dynamic visual, written and multimedia work that often explores themes such community, identity and environment.
With projects like Dom Perignon Abstracts and The Decentralized Dance Party along with her writing, travel and editorial photography, as well as her most recent endeavor The Art Walk Project, her work reflects a passion for storytelling, exploration and her curiosity about the dichotomy of our existence as we struggle to find our place in the world.
Over the years her work as been reckognized earning multiple awards, teaching positions and grants and she has been featured in multiple news outlets and publications including The Boston Globe, Artscope Magazine, and Open studio with Jared Bowen. In 2023 Julia was the recipient of a Mass Cultural Council Grant and she became a regular contributor on GBH’s The Culture Show.
Julia is a Latina artist who works as a, photographer, multimedia producer and creative consultant based out of Boston MA. She collaborates with cultural organizations, artists, and businesses to create media, and graphics that explore and engage our communities through creativity.
